Financial Support - Legal Defense Fund

The Korean War Educator Foundation established a Legal Defense Fund in February of 2007 to protect itself from individuals who might threaten Lynnita Brown and the KWE.  The intent to open this special saving account was made public on February 09, 2007 after Lynnita Brown received a harassing and accusatory telephone call from the wife of a Korean War veteran.  The caller blamed her husband's mental health problems and the cost of ensuing doctor bills on Lynnita and the KWE because her husband participated in the Korean War Educator's oral history project. The woman was also furious because her husband had mentioned her by name in his memoir without asking her permission.  The woman became so accusatory, rude, and verbally abusive that Lynnita had to hang the phone up to stop the caller's venomous tirade.

Husband and wife John and Sheila Kronenberger of Belleville, Illinois made the first donations to open the Legal Defense Fund savings account at 1st Mid-Illinois bank in Tuscola, Illinois.  This couple made national KWVA history when their removal from the KWVA membership roster was orchestrated by the Lou Dechert Administration after they campaigned against him in the Year 2006 KWVA election.  If ever two people understand injustice, it is the Kronenbergers.  The KWE sincerely thanks Sheila and John for recognizing the importance of a legal defense fund for the KWE, as well as for their willingness to step forward to become the first two contributors to it.

The Korean War Educator champions veterans by frequently "telling it like it is."   Recognizing that a vocal website like the KWE will probably always be open to attack from those who don't like to hear the truth, the KWE must protect itself from the sue-happy, whether the complaints are coming from irate individuals or small-minded leaders of a large organization.  Your donations to the Korean War Educator’s Legal Defense fund will help provide the money needed should Lynnita have to seek legal expertise if either she or the KWE are threatened. Note the operative word “defense” in the much-needed Legal Defense Fund.  If the KWE is wrongfully attacked, we will defend ourselves from our attacker.  This is especially true since 2012, when the Korean War Educator purchased Media Insurance to protect the website from those who would wish to harm it. The premiums for the insurance are $877 per year.

Donations of any amount are welcome.  Large or small, they all add up to cumulative protection for the Korean War Educator.  Donors and the amounts given to date are posted below.
